Recent Cases
Below are brief details of some of our recent successful Criminal defence cases.
R-v-D – Manchester Crown Court – sexual assault.
The defendant was a university student of good character and had made admissions in interview – with no legal representative present. At trial, we argued that this was a “false confession”. The defendant was unanimously acquitted at trial.
R-v-L – Sheffield Crown Court – rape.
The defendant was vulnerable man with learning difficulties. We obtained his mobile telephone call records which we argued showed that the Complainant had not given a truthful account to the police. Prosecution offered no evidence on the day of trial.
R-v-R – Sheffield Crown Court – digital penetration/sexual assault.
The defendant had entered a guilty plea at the crown court whilst represented by other solicitors. We were then instructed to take over his case. We successfully applied to vacate his guilty plea. We thereafter obtained our own forensic DNA expert report which undermined the prosecution expert evidence and we pushed for disclosure of the Complainant’s medical records. Following legal argument, the Prosecution offered no evidence.
